Cabinet Door Knobs

Whenever you redecorate your bedroom or one of your children’s bedrooms there’s always the possibility of installing or remodelling your cabinets. With these comes a whole new problem: your cabinet door knobs. Choosing the right cabinet door knobs is almost as complicated as choosing a name for your new baby or choosing a new car. The possibilities are almost endless and in this day where cabinet door knobs can be bought so cheaply, you’d be mad not to look around a bit to find ones that really match your tastes as well as the styling of the room that you put them in (and of the cabinet that you fix them onto).

This, however, can be a difficult and time consuming job, so there are a few things that you can do to speed up the process and to make sure things happen more easily and fluidly. The best way to start is to estimate where the first cabinet door knob should go (on the end cabinet) and attach it on (loosely). Next you want to go all the way down to the other end of the cabinet, pick up another one of your cabinet door knobs and put it on the end on at approximately the same height. From here you want to take a large ruler and line them between the two knobs so that you can mark dots on all of the cabinets in between (for where the other cabinet door knobs will be placed). When this is done you can feel confident that the holes that you drill are all placed in the right place, and that you won’t ruin your cabinet by having lop-sided knobs all over the place. For this I would recommend using a cordless drill, as corded drills can often get in the way when you’re trying to drill at awkward angles.

Since most cabinets aren’t made of thick wood, you need to make sure that when it comes to attaching cabinet door knobs you do so with the dearest of care (so that you don’t break the wood or split it so that the drawer becomes ruined forever). Don’t worry, however, even if you do break a drawer in this manner, since you can always remove your cabinet door knobs and buy a new drawer from the same store that you bought the whole cabinet set from.

Note that there are several different designs of cabinets that all fit the same specifications (in terms of size), so take your time to choose the one that is right for you. Do this before looking for cabinet door knobs, as you need to make sure you cabinet knobs match the design and style of the cabinets themselves. Another benefit is that you can remove your cabinet door knobs, meaning that you can paint you cabinet in the future, should you choose to, and then put a new set of knobs on them (meaning you won’t have to buy a completely new cabinet).
